Android users – the wait is over!!! We are excited today to announce that Vlingo for AndroidTM is now available on Android Market!!

Vlingo allows you to speak to your device to do almost anything including sending text and email, searching the web or Google maps, updating Twitter and more! Vlingo for AndroidTM also comes equipped with SafeReader, a “hands-free” feature that provides drivers with a safer, easier way to hear incoming text and email messages while on the go.

I know what you must be thinking – most Android devices already come equipped with some voice recognition so why would I buy Vlingo? You see Vlingo for AndroidTM goes to the next level of voice recognition making it hands down the most comprehensive voice application available in the Android Market. Simply tap the Vlingo home screen widget and tell your phone what to do!

See how easy it is!

The table below is a quick snapshot of the feature difference:

Vlingo is available for Android 2.x and above. North American users can download Vlingo on device from the Android Market or go to Vlingo.com from your Android device.

For a limited time only, Vlingo for AndroidTM is available for a one-time fee of $9.99.

So far so good. Need same level of support for Google Talk and to support legacy SMS, Google Voice as well.

Please make available vlingo for android and in other way than app store. I love the app, i want to buy it, but unfortunately in Romania i can`t find it, since we don`t have access to paid apps. Thanks.

I’d like to purchase Vlingo Plus, but I plan on going from a Blackberry to an Android in a few months…will my “membership” transfer to my new phone?

    Bonnie,

That’s a great question, and one we get fairly often. Unfortunately, the product does not transfer between platforms (BlackBerry to Android), only within (one Android device to another). The reason is that these devices run on very different systems, and therefore our applications are developed and sold separately. We hope that your experience on BlackBerry was a good one, and that you’ll make the switch to Vlingo for Android when you purchase your new phone.

    Best,
    TJ

I really like what I’m seeing so far! My only critique at this point is to add support for Google Talk and Google Voice as Brian mentioned. Perhaps a setting you can use to tell it which apps to use as default. Something like that can even be used to switch to third party dialers for VoIP as well if people are using that.
