Windows Mobile Beta!

Have you been waiting for Vlingo to arrive to Windows Mobile? Well here’s the scoop… Last Wednesday Vlingo announced its official beta support for 8 Windows Mobile 6.1 devices. We are excited to enter the world of “the PC” on smart phones to allow users to speak to their phones to send text and email messages, search the Web, dial the phone, send a "note to self", open native applications such as your calendar and camera and more.

The Vlingo Windows Mobile team is eager to hear your feedback. You can help us improve the product if you have one of the following supported devices:

* Samsung Omnia (Verizon)
* Samsung Omnia GSM (AT&T)
* Samsung Epix (AT&T)
* Samsung Jack (AT&T)
* Samsung Propel Pro (AT&T)
* Samsung BlackJack II (AT&T) [6.0 OS only]
* LG Incite (AT&T)
* Moto Q Global 9h (AT&T)

The beta will run through at least July 6th, 2009. To participate in the beta go to vlingo.com/windows from your device.

Yes it’s true what they say within Vlingo - I’m proud to be a PC on Windows Mobile.

Vlingo Window Mobile beta is working on my Samsung Saga even though that device isn't listed. The only hiccups so far is that some symbols like $ or # won't type within a message and hopefully the full release will have the option to 'reply with Vlingo' to a text or email message.

Thanks for the interest on the Saga we're working on supporting more devices as soon as we can. We are also big fans of 'reply with Vlingo' for text messages and email in our BB app. We're working on it... The symbols hiccup you found is on our radar screen - we'll swat that one. Thanks for helping us improve Vlingo for Windows Mobile.

I've been trying to get in contact with ANYONE at vlingo to answer one question for me, and I'm dying to know. Is there an update in the works for the iPhone app, to utilize SMS/Email creation with the new developer API's? All I need is a simple yes or no :), more would be nice though :) like an expected release date? lol - stevenberry54@gmail.com

Hi Everyday Steven

Thank you for your support of Vlingo. We are always working on improving the user experience for Vlingo. However, at this point, we do not have a set date in which Vlingo for iPhone will support the ability to send a text or email message.

As always, we will update the blog and the Vlingo website with information.

Thanks!

Are you sure this works with Samsung Omnia (Verizon)? I've loaded it properly to the device and assigned the proper button. When pressed the tutorial "search concert tickets" comes up in text it says to push the button to make command, and nothing happens when pushed. I've tried assigning it to the camera as well and it does not work there. Voice Command continues to work so the microphone is working properly. A search concluded similar results from others.

I tried to download the Beta version to my Samsung Omnia i910, Verizon, and set it up, but my phone won't allow the main menu button to be mapped. Since my i910has two main menu button functions, the button itself and holding the button, the phone won't allow me to assign it to both functions, and if i choose either, when hitting OK, the Vlingo says the button was not set up correctly and to try again. What do I need to do?

Hi Don,
Unfortunately our Beta for Windows Mobile is no longer available as of this afternoon. We are in the process of launching our supported device today.
If you contact support www.vlingo.com asap we'll try to get you past your problem.

Thanks,
vluis

I did contact them, but as of today, still no response. I was hoping i could find something out here, but I guess I'm up the creek without the proverbial paddle.
